ASANKO GOLD GHANA LIMITED LAUNCHES LIFE-CHANGING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME FOR HOST COMMUNITIES
Asanko Gold Ghana Limited has launched a scholarship programme, transforming the lives of 16 students from its host communities in the Amansie South and West Districts.
The initiative, part of the company's five-year Social and Economic Development Plan (SEDEP), aims to address financial barriers hindering tertiary education aspirations.
Beneficiaries, selected through a rigorous process, will receive up to GH₵10,000 per year to cover tuition, residential fees, and other academic charges.
The programme also offers opportunities for internships, national service, and career development with Asanko Gold Ghana Limited.
Emmanuel Aboagye, a 24-year-old mechatronic engineering student, is one of the beneficiaries. "I thought I'd never make it to university," he said, overcome with emotion. "I'm grateful to Asanko Gold Ghana for this opportunity."
General Manager Ahmed Mohadini-Yahaya emphasized the company's commitment to empowering young people.
"We hope they'll return as leaders, engineers, and professionals, contributing to their communities and potentially joining our team," he said.
The scholarship programme has brought hope to students and communities, praised by parents and chiefs for its impact. Beneficiaries are urged to seize this opportunity to shape their futures.
Other Scholarship beneficiaries say they have heaved a sigh of relief following the intervention by Asanko Gold Ghana Limited.
Emmanuel, excited about the intervention, said:
“I secured the scholarship to pursue my dream course at the university. I am very, very happy, and I am also very grateful to the Asanko Gold Ghana for this great opportunity. In fact, I am not sure that without this scholarship I would have had the opportunity to pursue my dream of becoming a mechatronic engineer. I am extremely grateful, and I thank God so much for today.”
Parents of the beneficiaries and chiefs from the host communities lauded Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd for the intervention and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity
