Kwadaso Municipal Assembly Supports Sofoline Mechanics After Fire Outbreak
The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has donated roofing materials to mechanics at Sofoline who were affected by a devastating fire outbreak that occurred on January 26, 2026.
The donation comes as the affected mechanics make efforts to rebuild the site and resume work while awaiting long-term support from central government.
Presenting the items at the scene, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Eric Assibey, said the Assembly could not remain idle while the victims struggle to get back on their feet. He noted that although government processes are underway to provide support, immediate intervention was necessary to help the mechanics rebuild and continue their livelihoods.
According to him, the Assembly donated 20 packs of roofing sheets together with nails to ease the burden of reconstruction, particularly roofing works, and to speed up efforts for the mechanics to return to work.
Hon. Assibey further urged the mechanics to prioritize sanitation and hygiene at the site to ensure a safe and healthy working environment as they rebuild.
The Organizer of the Sofoline Mechanics, Master Lamus, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly for its timely donation, describing the support as a major boost to efforts to rebuild after the recent fire outbreak, while appealing to government to recognize mechanics as an essential profession and provide them with the needed support.
