A/R: Security Council Reopens NHIA Office in Ejisu, Restores Calm

The Ashanti Regional Security Council has reopened the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) office in Ejisu, providing security for workers.

A team of security officers, led by Captain Jabari and Alhaji Tapsoba, removed all items blocking the entrance to the office on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

The office had been closed down by some youth, purportedly NDC members, protesting the appointment of a new manager.

The situation forced workers to leave, halting services.

Addressing the media, Alhaji Tapsoba condemned the act, calling on aggrieved members to use lawful means to express their demands.

"We have officially invited the suspected youth to our office for further actions," he said.

He noted  Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has been informed and will address the situation at the administrative level.

"The workers will be provided with adequate security for their safety," Tapsoba assured.

He warned the youth to avoid violence, stating that any act contrary to the law will be dealt with.
