Cocoa Sector Crisis:Publish PBC Payment Details--Minority Demands Transparency From Govt

The Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has challenged President John Dramani Mahama to publish the names of Produce Buying Companies (PBCs) allegedly paid for cocoa purchases.

According to him, claims circulating in the media that government has paid cocoa farmers are inaccurate and do not reflect the reality on the ground.

Honourable Annoh-Dompreh made the remarks during a visit by the Minority caucus to cocoa farmers at New Edubiase, as part of their ongoing tour of the Ashanti Region.

Addressing farmers at the engagement on Thursday, March 19, 2026, he called on government to publish a list of Produce Buying Companies (PBCs) that have received payments, in order to ensure transparency and accountability.

He also raised concerns about what he described as attacks from some ruling party supporters on social media, noting that such criticisms will not deter the Minority from advocating for cocoa farmers.

Honourable Annoh-Dompreh assured the farmers that the Minority will continue to push for fair pricing and timely payment for cocoa beans.

The Minority maintains that it will sustain its efforts in Parliament and beyond until cocoa farmers receive what they describe as their rightful earnings.
