Govt's Reason for Cocoa Price Cut Doesn't Justify Farmers' Suffering - MP Frank Yeboah

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon Frank Yeboah, says the government's reason for cutting cocoa prices is not convincing, considering the suffering farmers are going through.

He noted that previous governments faced similar challenges, yet maintained prices to protect farmers.

Speaking to OTEC News', Kwame  Agyenim Boateng on Monday Hon Yeboah called on the government to restore the previous price, saying the NPP administration increased prices despite inheriting huge debts and fluctuating international prices.

"With prudent management and proper understanding of the cocoa sector, the NPP administration supported farmers with competitive prices," he said.

The MP urged the NDC administration to sit up, appoint experts to manage the cocoa business, and stop making excuses.

He reminded farmers to hold the NDC accountable for the hardships they're facing, saying "the only thing that has changed now is that the NDC are in Power".
