Kwadaso Assembly Supports PWDs with Tools and Cash Boost
The Kwadaso Municipal Assembly has donated working tools and financial support to 50 Persons with Disabilities within the municipality, as part of efforts to improve their livelihoods and promote self-reliance.
The items presented included deep freezers, laptops, sliding door cutting machines, hand sewing machines, and industrial machines, and cash for beneficiaries in need of medical care and educational support
Speaking at the ceremony held on March 31, 2026, at the Assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Eric Assibey, said the initiative is aimed at empowering persons with disabilities who are willing to work but lack the necessary resources.
He revealed that government funding support for persons with disabilities has been increased from 2 percent to 5 percent, a move he believes will significantly improve their quality of life.
Hon. Assibey also urged parents with disabled children to enroll them in school to benefit from the government’s free tertiary education policy. He noted that education would equip them with skills to secure better jobs and become independent.
He further called on the public to end stigmatization against persons with disabilities and instead show them love, care, and acceptance.
The Kwadaso Federation President of Persons with Disabilities, John Nicholas Mensah, has commended the government and the Municipal Assembly for their timely support to members within the municipality, describing the intervention as a major boost to their livelihoods.
He also appealed for sustained assistance to enable persons with disabilities to remain productive and independent, while urging beneficiaries to make good use of the items provided to improve their lives.
