SSNIT, TUC Hold Regional Forum to Promote Literacy Among Union Members

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), in collaboration with the Trades Union Congress (TUC), has organized the 2026 edition of its Regional Forum for members, aimed at deepening knowledge on its operations and digital services.

The forum, held under the theme “Empowered Unions, Securing the Future: Deepening Literacy Across Ghana,” brought together union executives from Ejisu, Mankraso, Kuntanase, and the Kumasi Metropolis.

Participants were taken through SSNIT’s operational processes, registration procedures, and the use of digital platforms to access services.

Speaking at the event at the Timber and Wood Workers’ Union Centre at Adiembra, the Deputy Director-General of SSNIT, Adam Sulley, said the initiative is designed to engage members and enhance their understanding of SSNIT’s benefit packages.

He noted that the forum will also motivate members to actively participate in the scheme and take advantage of available digital channels for improved service delivery.

The Secretary-General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Joshua Ansah, has commended the collaboration with SSNIT in organizing the 2026 Regional Forum, describing it as a timely initiative to improve members’ understanding of union activities and SSNIT operations. He noted that such engagements are crucial in equipping union members with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their social security contributions and benefits.

He further expressed hope that the forum would be held annually to sustain education and awareness among members. Mr. Ansah also urged workers who are yet to enroll in SSNIT to do so, emphasizing that joining the scheme will enable them to access its long-term benefits and secure their future.
