Ashanti Region Records 9.6% Drop in Fire Outbreak Cases

The Ashanti Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service has recorded a significant reduction in fire outbreak cases in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.

Speaking at the International Firefighters Day celebration held on May 4, 2026, at Chirapatre, the Ashanti Regional Fire Commander, Peter Tetteh, disclosed that fire incidents dropped from 385 cases in the first quarter of 2025 to 348 cases in 2026, representing a 9.6 percent decrease.

He explained that the decline reflects the positive impact of sustained public education by the Ghana National Fire Service on fire prevention and safety measures.

According to him, the command remains optimistic about achieving an even greater reduction in fire outbreaks across the region, as more residents continue to adhere to fire safety guidelines.

The Commander reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to intensifying awareness campaigns and improving response strategies to safeguard lives and property.
