SSNIT Introduces Annual Pensioner Certificate Renewal Policy Beginning 2026
The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is introducing a new policy requiring all pensioners to renew their Pensioner Certificate annually.
Starting April 2026, pensioners must renew their certificates every year during their birth month to continue receiving pension payments.
SSNIT in a press release on Wednesday said the move aims to strengthen the integrity of the SSNIT Pension Scheme, ensuring payments are made to living and eligible beneficiaries.
"The revised policy introduces mandatory annual Pensioner Certificate renewal for all pensioners," SSNIT stated.
Pensioners have multiple channels to renew their certificates. "Pensioners may renew their certificates through the SSNIT Mobile App with facial verification, SSNIT Virtual Branch, SSNIT Partner Banks, or any SSNIT Branch nationwide," according to SSNIT.
For those with mobility challenges, arrangements can be made for home visits by calling the SSNIT Contact Centre on 0302 611 622.
"SSNIT has instituted arrangements for pensioners with mobility challenges to be verified at home," the Trust noted. Pensioners will receive reminders at least a month before their birth month via SMS, email, or other approved channels.
