Cocoa Price Cut : Govt's Priority on Presidential Jets Over Cocoa Farmers Highly Insensitive-Minority


 The Minority in Parliament has criticized President John Dramani Mahama's government for prioritizing the purchase of presidential jets over addressing the cocoa crisis affecting farmers.


 The Minority believes the government should have resolved the cocoa issue and supported farmers before considering new aircraft.


Minority Chief Whip Frank Annor-Dompreh made the remarks while engaging farmers at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.


 "This government has demonstrated it has no regard for cocoa farmers. While you're crying, they're thinking of buying aeroplanes," he said. 



"We strongly believe the government could have sorted out this issue, maintained prices, and positioned farmers to produce more."


Bantama MP Hon Francis Asenso Boakye also condemned the price reduction, saying, "Government has taken the farmer for granted.


 They have no regard for you, which is why they failed to think twice about this reduction." 


The former Roads Minister urged farmers to be aggressive in demanding good prices for their cocoa beans.

Kumasi Technical Institute Receives Completed First Phase of PTA Renovation Project

  The Parent Teacher Association of the Kumasi Technical Institute has officially handed over the first phase of a major renovation project to school authorities in the Kumasi Metropolis. Phase One of the project includes the painting and expansion of the school’s dining hall, the painting of the administration block, science block, and boys’ dormitory, as well as the provision of new dining hall tables and benches. A/R: Concerned Small-Scale Miners Allege Harassment and Extortion by Police,Calls for Probe

  Members of the National Concerned Small Scale Miners at Manso-Watreso and other communities in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region are alleging harassment and extortion by police officers from Bekwai under the Ashanti South Regional Police Command. The miners in a statement on Monday alleged that officers from the command regularly visit sites belonging to members of the National Concerned Small Scale Miners Association to carry out operations and, in the process, allegedly collect money from miners without justification.  Some affected miners claim the officers often remove the number plates of the vehicles they use during these operations, making it difficult to properly identify them or authenticate the operations.
