Media Summit: Minister Urges Journalists to Showcase Ashanti's Rich Culture and Attractions


 The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has called on journalists to highlight the region's rich history, culture, and tourist attractions to attract investors and create jobs. 


Speaking at the maiden Ashanti Media Summit, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of balancing accountability reporting with showcasing the region's positive aspects.


"We appreciate journalists holding government accountable, but we also need you to tell the world about our good things," he said.


 "After discussing issues like bad roads, take time to highlight our tourist areas, like Lake Bosomtwe and our waterfalls, and share our historic stories."


The summit, organized by Ashanti Global Festival Heritage and supported by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and Ghana Journalists Association, brought together media professionals to discuss promoting the region.


The Panel members again  discussed ways to uphold ethics and credibility in journalism


GJA Ashanti Chairman, Mr. Kofi Adu Domfe, stressed the importance of verifying information to maintain credibility, saying it's the currency of media platforms.



He urged journalists to always maintain credibility in the discharged of their duties

Kumasi Technical Institute Receives Completed First Phase of PTA Renovation Project

  The Parent Teacher Association of the Kumasi Technical Institute has officially handed over the first phase of a major renovation project to school authorities in the Kumasi Metropolis. Phase One of the project includes the painting and expansion of the school’s dining hall, the painting of the administration block, science block, and boys’ dormitory, as well as the provision of new dining hall tables and benches. The PTA also supplied a public address system and supported the expansion of the school’s auditorium. A/R: Concerned Small-Scale Miners Allege Harassment and Extortion by Police,Calls for Probe

  Members of the National Concerned Small Scale Miners at Manso-Watreso and other communities in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region are alleging harassment and extortion by police officers from Bekwai under the Ashanti South Regional Police Command. The miners in a statement on Monday alleged that officers from the command regularly visit sites belonging to members of the National Concerned Small Scale Miners Association to carry out operations and, in the process, allegedly collect money from miners without justification.  Some affected miners claim the officers often remove the number plates of the vehicles they use during these operations, making it difficult to properly identify them or authenticate the operations.
