BLIND COCOA FARMER APPEALS TO MAHAMA OVER DELAYED PAYMENT

A 65-year-old blind cocoa farmer, Asante Patrick, from Kukuom in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region, is appealing to President John Dramani Mahama to release the promised GH₵2,500 payment.

According to Mr. Patrick, he has been waiting for the payment since December, a situation he says has left him in a state of distress and uncertainty.

Speaking during the Minority Caucus engagement with cocoa farmers  on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, he explained that his caretaker, who manages his cocoa farm, has threatened to stop working due to delays in payment for cocoa beans.

Mr. Patrick therefore appealed to the government to urgently release the funds, stressing that the delay is affecting his ability to meet basic needs, including supporting his children and maintaining his livelihood.
