Atwima Nwabiagya North MP Accuses Mahama of Neglecting Old Hospitals to Start New Projects

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Frank Yeboah, has accused President John Mahama of abandoning ongoing health infrastructure while initiating new hospital projects.

The MP says the President has deceived the public by going against his own pledge to complete all old projects before starting new ones.

Hon. Yeboah made the remarks on Wednesday, 10th June 2026, as part of an entourage from the Minority Caucus that toured several abandoned health facilities in the Ashanti Region.

The tour was led by the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.

During the visit, the Minority inspected the Afari Military Hospital and Sewua Government Hospital. According to the MP, huge sums of state funds have already been pumped into both facilities, yet government has failed to operationalize them for public use.

Speaking to journalists after the tour, the MP did not hold back.

“President Mahama has deceived the public after going against his own pledge that he was going to ensure completion of all old infrastructural projects before starting a new one. Today, we are seeing new hospital projects initiated while ongoing ones rot in the bush,”he said.

Hon. Yeboah argued that the abandoned hospitals were meant to ease pressure on Kumasi’s health facilities and bring care closer to residents in Atwima Nwabiagya North and adjoining districts.

He said leaving them to deteriorate wastes taxpayers’ money and denies citizens access to critical healthcare.

The MP is demanding immediate government action to complete and operationalize all stalled health projects before committing funds to new ones.

“The people deserve hospitals that work, not abandoned structures and broken promises,”_ he added. The Minority says it will continue monitoring abandoned facilities and hold the government accountable on the floor of Parliament.
